Job description

The Good Lab at the Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking a talented and motivated Life Science Research Professional 1 to advance T cell immunotherapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases by leveraging cutting-edge bioinformatics methods, cohort assembly, and spatial/single-cell transcriptomics, proteomics, pathology, or clinical data. As part of a multidisciplinary group, you will leverage existing datasets and pipelines to build cohorts, analyze single-cell and bulk omics datasets and explore spatial transcriptomics data, and define novel insights into T cell immunotherapy. Additional major responsibilities will include contributing to T cell therapy data aggregation efforts to support machine learning model development. For exceptionally skilled applicants, the LSRP’s role can be extended to include the design and completion of novel pipelines or AI models based on the lab’s datasets. A successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in immunology, bioinformatics, data science, or related field. Previous laboratory experience in clinical/pathology data, single-cell sequencing and spatial analyses is highly desirable. Proficiency in running analytical pipelines on a computer cluster is a plus. We especially value excellent organization and communication skills. About the Lab:
You will work in the laboratory of Dr. Zinaida Good located in the Center for Clinical Sciences Research building in the heart of the Stanford University School of Medicine. As a part of the Division of Immunology and Rheumatology and the Division of Computational Medicine in the Department of Medicine and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, our goal is to apply cutting-edge technologies to study T cell therapy response in patients, and to design the next-generation T cell therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. The laboratory consists of an interdisciplinary team of physicians and scientists with backgrounds in medicine, immunology, cancer, autoimmunity, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence. The Good Lab studies fundamental principles of T cell therapies with a focus on single-cell multi-omic and spatial technologies (Kadaba et al. ICML 2025; Tsui et al. NeurIPS 2025; Schaefer et al. ICML 2026) applied to patient data (Good et al. Nature Medicine 2018 and 2022) and advanced T cell engineering strategies informed by patient insights (Good et al. Core Duties:

  • Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory.

  • Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.

  • Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher.

  • Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research.

  • Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.

  • Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed.

  • Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in related scientific field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General understanding of scientific principles. Demonstrated performance to use knowledge and skills when needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge of science principals to problem solve work.

  • Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.

  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications.

  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.

  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.
