Course Title: AST101H5F - Exploring the Solar System

 

Course Description: This course explores Earth's local family, consisting of two types of major planets, newly identified dwarf planets, many moons orbiting the planets, and millions of smaller objects such as comets and meteoroids. This course examines how these groups are similar and different, how the solar system formed, and how our solar system compares to the systems of other stars.

 

Number of Positions (est):  1 position. * Positions are dependent on actual course enrolment, and are not guaranteed.

 

Course Enrolment (est): 350 students

 

Hours of work (est): 68 hours

Sessional dates of appointment: September 2026 – December 2026

 

SalaryCUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries. The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

 

Qualifications: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Astronomy or Physics. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Previous experience marking assignments, quizzes, tests and/or final exam in Astronomy an asset to be able to evaluate students' work consistently within the UofT's standards. Good communication skills are required as well.

 

Description of Duties: Duties will include marking assignments, quizzes, term tests, and/or final examination.
