What We Are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking a Museum Engagement Coordinator to coordinate and supervise student employees to facilitate engaging museum experiences, including weekends and holidays. The Museum Engagement Coordinator will develop activities to spark curiosity on the floor and deepen learning happening in the museum. This position works with the School Programs Coordinator to help facilitate group visits to the museum, creating a harmonious experience for teachers, students, and floor staff.
The regular work schedule for this position is Tuesday - Saturday.
A Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience are required. A Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience are preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Oversee hiring process for student employees to fill Spark Guide and Spark Team Lead positions
Complete onboarding and oversee day to day management of student employees, including managing the accountability system and facilitating mid-semester evaluations
Provide coaching for floor staff on how to improve their engagement with visitors
Schedule Spark Team to ensure all floor shifts are covered, including personally filling spots when necessary
Provide & train students to provide high quality customer service to all guests to the museum
Create training materials for Spark Team on new exhibits and Spark Boxes and conduct monthly training meetings with Spark Guides
Oversee development of new Spark Zone activities and other day-to-day interactions with visitors
Maintain Spark Zone training materials and engagement supplies
Evaluate success of each Spark Cart and rotate activities according to the topic, season, exhibit, etc.
Assist School Programs Coordinator in daily greeting and logistical management for school groups; includes greeting and orienting parents and chaperone, supporting lunchtime logistics, and managing departure transitions
Work closely with School Programs Coordinator to ensure gallery floor staff and school groups are working harmoniously
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
