Operations at Brex

Operations is the backbone of Brex’s mission to power businesses through our Intelligent Finance Platform. We own credit, fraud, money movement, and payments, protecting our customers and our company. From product operations that ensure flawless launches to scalable systems that drive innovation and precision, we operate at the intersection of product, design, engineering, and customer success. If you want to work at the heart of the business, Operations is where you belong.

Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our São Paulo office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!

What you'll do

As an Underwriting Analyst, your goal is to support our underwriting processes for our card products and grow your skills as a credit professional. This is a role that requires strong communication, time management, financial analysis, and teamwork. You will partner cross-functionally with our Sales, Customer Experience, Engineering, and Product teams to contribute to meeting organizational goals, and will have the opportunity to develop into more senior credit responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities

  • Own and work assigned cash-based underwriting queues, including account reviews, limit changes, and credit-related requests.
  • Evaluate customer creditworthiness and repayment capacity using bank statements, transaction data, cash-flow trends, and other business information.
  • Analyze cash balances, revenue, burn, runway, utilization, and transaction activity to identify evolving credit risk.
  • Make sound, risk-based recommendations within delegated authority, balancing customer impact with responsible exposure management.
  • Clearly communicate underwriting decisions, rationale, and information requirements to internal partners and, when needed, customers.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Experience, Credit Policy, Risk, Data, Product, and Engineering to resolve complex cases and improve the end-to-end credit experience
  • Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve underwriting quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Use data, spreadsheets, and AI-enabled tools to streamline routine work and surface actionable insights.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve tools and workflows that support cash-based underwriting.

Requirements

  • Passionate about credit and underwriting decisions on commercial exposures for small to large businesses
  • Strong analytical rigor and attention to details
  • Customer centric and passionate about thinking through customer needs and working with them while balancing risk exposures
  • Ability to communicate technical problems in an elegant and tactful way

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with quantitative credit risk models, probability of default (PD), and loss given default (LGD) concepts
  • Familiarity with underwriting or credit-risk tooling and workflows.
  • Experience using SQL, Hex, spreadsheets, or similar tools to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Familiarity with banking regulations and global markets
  • Experience using Salesforce or comparable case-management tools

What applying to Brex usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through greenhouse can typically expect a structured process that begins with an online application and resume submission, often followed by an automated acknowledgment email. For Brex, given the breadth of open roles across engineering, sales, operations, legal, and other functions, the process may vary somewhat by department, but commonly includes an initial recruiter screen, followed by one or more interviews with hiring managers or team members. Depending on the role, candidates may encounter technical assessments, case studies, or skills-based exercises before progressing to further stages. Greenhouse itself facilitates scheduling, feedback collection, and candidate communication, though actual response times vary and are determined by the employer rather than the platform. Candidates should generally prepare to track their application status through email updates or a candidate portal linked to the system.
