What applying to Cornell University usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through Workday can typically expect an online application requiring account creation, resume upload, and detailed manual entry of work history and education. Workday systems commonly include knockout questions, work authorization and voluntary disclosure sections, and may prompt candidates to complete assessments depending on the role. Given the wide variety of positions here—from skilled trades and facilities roles to academic, administrative, and research positions—requirements and screening steps likely vary by department. After submission, applicants may receive automated confirmation emails, and response times vary considerably. The process may include multiple stages, such as recruiter screening, hiring manager conversations, and additional evaluations like technical exercises or panel discussions, particularly for specialized or leadership roles. Candidates should generally ensure resumes are complete and consistent with entered application details, as discrepancies can occasionally delay review.
