What You'll Do:
- Continuously monitor pool areas, swimmers, and aquatic activities to ensure participant safety.
- Enforce pool rules and promote safe swimming practices among all facility users.
- Respond promptly and professionally to aquatic emergencies, performing rescues and administering first aid, CPR, or rescue breathing as required.
- Oversee open swim sessions and maintain constant vigilance of participant activity.
- Inspect pool facilities and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and usability.
- Report maintenance concerns, hazards, or facility issues to the Center Director or appropriate personnel.
- Assist in maintaining a positive, welcoming, and customer-focused environment.
- Complete additional duties related to aquatic operations and facility support as assigned.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergency situations.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a safe environment.
- Knowledge of lifeguarding principles, emergency response procedures, and aquatic safety practices.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with facility staff.
Required Certification:
- Current Lifeguard Certification.
- Current CPR and Rescue Breathing Certification (or ability to maintain certifications as required by Duke policies).

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $20.00 to USD $24.10.
