Are you passionate about creating memorable student experiences and building campus community? Ohio State's CFAES Wooster Campus is seeking a Recreational Sports Specialist 1 to develop recreation, fitness, wellness, and student engagement opportunities that help students thrive academically, socially, and personally.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate intramural sports, fitness programs, wellness initiatives, and student activities.
  • Manage daily operations of the Student Activity Center, including scheduling, recreation hours, and special events.
  • Assists with overseeing athletic fields and recreational spaces, ensuring safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facilities.
  • Analyze participation data to assess program success and identify growth opportunities.
  • Support orientation, campus events, and Student Life initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Wooster, regional campuses, and Columbus to enhance the student experience.
  • Promote programs through social media, websites, and other marketing channels.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

Preferred

  • Up to two years of experience in campus recreation, student activities, wellness programming, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating events, programs, or recreational activities.
  • Experience supervising student employees, volunteers, or peer leaders.
  • Familiarity with social media and student engagement strategies.

Additional Information: Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support programs and student events.

The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
