JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Reports to: Assistant Director of Aquatics
Pay Rate: $25-$30 based on qualifications
Responsibilities
- On-deck instruction and coaching of swimmers in private and semi-private coaching sessions.
- Deliver sessions in positive manner with high energy and adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience, learning style and ability of participants
- Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending coaching sessions on time
- Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe
- Communicate regularly with participants and their parents, as appropriate, to ensure they are aware of progress
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies in accordance with facility emergency action plans
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Complete records and reports
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements
- Demonstrate confidence and knowledge swimming techniques, training principles, and competition strategies for long-term athlete development.
- Ability to positively interact with the general public.
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches or equivalency
- USA Swimming Coaching Certification(s)
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check and clearances
Working Conditions
- Maximum of 24 hours worked per week for Campus Recreation
- Work will take place on the University Park Campus White Building or McCoy Natatorium (Indoor/Outdoor)
- Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that will include mornings, evening, weekends and University breaks.
