Job Summary
Workdays are between Monday-Friday, with some weekends required.
Grounds and Facilities
- Maintain trails, roads, paths, and other outdoor areas of the property.
- Performs lawn care such as mowing, trimming, reseeding, raking, and edging.
- Assists in maintaining garden beds by supporting gardening staff, mulching, removing litter, etc.
- Assists in pruning shrubs and trees as needed.
- Assists volunteers while fostering positive relationships and encouraging volunteer engagement at the Arboretum.
- Repairs fencing, picnic tables, benches, gates, walls, and walks as needed.
- Performs custodial functions of Gabis Facilities such as cleaning restrooms, lobbies, offices, etc.
- Adheres to all safety regulations while operating equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Event Support
- Performs on-site event set up, break down, and cleaning.
- Assists with events and facility rentals as needed.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED
Experience
- Minimum of 6 months related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Experience operating various equipment such as mowers, hand and power tools is preferred.
- The ability to identify some trees and weeds is preferred.
- Some basic mechanical knowledge is preferred, such as checking oil, checking and filling equipment with correct fuel, and recognizing engine issues or failures.
