Work Arrangement: Please note that this position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered hybrid with the expectation to be on campus a minimum of three (3) days per work week depending on events. In addition, this position may require working evenings and weekends.
Budgeted Salary: The expected pay range for this position is $68,247 - $95,000 per annum.

Stanford Live presents a wide range of performances annually, and a significant engagement program involving students, faculty and staff on campus and in the communities beyond Stanford. Bing Concert Hall also supports Department of Music concerts and programs as well as various other types of Stanford events.
The Audio/Video Manager serves as the lead audio and video engineer for all events and projects, coordinating with guest engineers and designers as necessary. This position maintains all AV infrastructure and equipment; works with outside vendors to rent/purchase equipment and coordinates over-hire labor as needed to assist with AV load-ins, performances, and maintenance calls. This position reports to the Production Manager and may provide additional support to the Executive Director and/or the Director of Production as needed.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as lead audio engineer on all events and projects, and facilitate the experience of guest engineers or artist crews when appropriate. Perform or oversee live sound, webcast/broadcast mixing, and archival/recording operations as needed for each event.
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with outside vendors, including leveraging/negotiating favorable arrangements for our concert hall whenever possible. Participate in promoting general awareness and favorable impressions of our concert hall among staff, vendors, and external constituents.
- Assist with the load-in of staging, lighting, backline, video, and audio for performances as needed. Periodically serve as Stage Manager for certain performances, as appropriate.
- Maintain infrastructure and audio video equipment. Troubleshoot as necessary to resolve any audio video related issues. Perform regular maintenance and tuning of the audio video systems during project and maintenance periods.
- Assist other concert hall staff with general venue and equipment maintenance and inventory activities, as assigned.
- Assist marketing, programming and engagement departments with special audio-related projects, archival recordings, and on-site video shoots as needed and scheduled around concert hall duties.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required or assigned, including audio video support for special projects.
- Operates video equipment when needed and coordinates with over-hire video engineers when production requirements dictate.

- The successful individual will possess a minimum of seven years experience in audio video engineering preferred
- Detailed knowledge of musical instruments, specifically western symphonic instruments.

- Demonstrable ability to consistently meet deadlines with high accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through on all assigned tasks. Must adroitly handle many tasks simultaneously in a competent, organized and unflappable manner.
- Ability to work with artists, agents and managers in sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent verbal skills necessary, as well as ability to communicate with extreme diplomacy, professionalism, and graciousness.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel required. Experience with FinalCut, Photoshop, or other Adobe products a plus
- Understanding of accounting, budgeting and financial issues and ability to track and monitor expenses related to the performances and hall operations.

Core Duties:
Production
- Collaborate with other members of the production team i.e., directors, designers, stage managers, to ensure that technical aspects of production are aligned with the artistic vision of the program.
- Communicate the features, benefits, and advantages of the production/program to contractors and vendors.
- Execute a tactical plan to meet the technical production/program objectives.
- Keep track of logistical and scheduling details. Track production/program progress against project goals and schedule.
Relationship Mgmt
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of production/program elements (lighting, video rental, etc.).
Reporting & Improvements:
- Gather, analyze, and report on production/program data for technical components such as sound levels.
Partnership/Team Dynamics
- Provide oversight and partner with stage technicians and contingent crew to execute program/product. Orient and teach new contingent staff.
- Review and audit vendor contractor invoices for accuracy and submit for approval and processing.
- May provide administrative support to Production/Program team.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
