What we want

The Clinical Teaching Assistant serves as a Clinical Teaching Assistant to faculty in the Texas A&M University School of Nursing. Works under the supervision of a Master’s or Doctorally prepared nursing faculty member primarily in the clinical setting. Assists nursing faculty with the supervision of students during clinical learning experiences.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing 

  • One year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in a clinical hospital setting   

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Texas 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse with recent or current experience in acute care areas including medical-surgical, critical care, pediatrics, or OB

  • Master of Science in Nursing

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.

  • Clinical expertise to function effectively and safely in the designated area of teaching.

  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.

Responsibilities

Supervision of Students 

  • Functions in the role of clinical supervisor. Assists faculty with the supervision of student’s skills performance, student evaluation and other aspects of student learning in the clinical setting. 

Clinical Setting 

  • Consults with a nursing faculty member in clinical settings. Occasional classroom assistance may be requested for activities.
