The Cardio Catheterization Technician performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex invasive cardiac catheterization procedures and surgeries.

  • Uses imaging equipment to help doctors detect and treat any heart and blood vessel issues.

  • Takes patients’ medical history and answers patients’ questions before any procedure is done.

  • Ensures that the equipment is in good working order and ready for use.

  • Executes any noninvasive course of action, such as ultrasound images.

  • Evaluates images to ensure good quality and makes sure that area in question is included.

  • Keeps abreast of the differences between a normal image and an abnormal image.

  • Communicates with the physician regarding the results of the image.

  • Assists the physician with inserting catheters and other invasive procedures.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

  • Commitment to the University’s core values.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
