Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities:

The Department of Public Safety is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Public Safety Officers. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our University community safe and secure, working in partnership with our sworn Peace Officers.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Patrol University areas to ensure safety and report any hazards

  • Respond to security calls for building access, safety escorts, or equipment issues

  • Support campus events with access control and crowd management

  • Monitor and report on campus safety systems, like emergency phones and cameras

  • Collaborate with local law enforcement as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong observational and surveillance skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Calm under pressure

  • Basic knowledge of security procedures

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid NYS driver’s license and must not have had license suspended in the past three (3) years in accordance with University Safe Driver Program

  • Ability to handle foot patrols and stationary assignments

  • Successful completion of an extensive background check, physical, and drug screen

  • Previous security experience is preferred
