The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Assists teachers with classroom activities as needed, including daily room setup, aiding children with toileting/hand washing, meal service, and cleaning. Assists with guidance of children including goal setting, discipline, and activity leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with indoor and outdoor activities of children.
  • Assists teachers in setting up room on a daily basis. Assembles appropriate materials.
  • Aids children with toileting, hand washing and tooth brushing. Serves meals. Cleans classroom. Prepares and repairs materials and toys. Helps children rest. Rides the bus on a rotating basis.
  • Assists teacher in setting goals for children. Participates in planning and with ideas for activities.
  • Leads a minimum of one daily classroom activity with teacher present. Participates in admission, case conference, diagnostic and Individual Education Program meetings and staff meetings.
  • Leads classroom when teacher is not present.
  • Assists with guidance and discipline for children, intervening, when necessary, including removal of child to time-out room and use of common behavior management techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree and less than 1 year of experience required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
