The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time psychiatrist in the General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division.  The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is July 1, 2027 or shortly thereafter.

CAMH is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorders, offering a wide spectrum of care from treatment for first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive University in Canada. CAMH, together with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, has a strong tradition in the integration of clinical, teaching and research activities.  The successful candidate will provide exemplary team-based psychiatric care for people admitted to general psychiatry inpatient units.

The applicant will have a desire to work in and contribute to the active academic environment at CAMH, with a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The candidate will also be expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs associated with the University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry. Alternatively, for candidates with an academic interest in quality improvement, they will contribute to clinical quality initiatives, teaching and scholarship at CAMH and be involved in the quality improvement faculty community associated with the University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry.  Clinical duties will include providing care for patients admitted to general psychiatry inpatient services, Bridging Transitions Clinic, and outpatient services (two ½ days each week.) The academic role will focus on teaching and supervision of medical students and psychiatry residents or developing and leading quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical services in the General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division.

Applicants must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate must also be eligible for academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor. English language proficiency is required.

This is a full-time position with estimated remuneration in the range of $350,00 - 400,000 per annum based on a combination of clinical stipends, fees for clinical service, funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds, and on-call stipends. Benefits are not included. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, M6J 1H4.
