Course Code: KIN8330H: Program Evaluation and Applied Research for Professionals 

 

Course description: The emphasis of this course is on understanding the various paradigms, methods and types of knowledge that may be used to evaluate programs. Topics will include distinguishing research, assessment and evaluation, the evaluation process, developing an evaluation question, paradigms and models of program evaluation, quality criteria, and ethical considerations in program evaluation. Learning outcomes will be achieved through a combination of lectures, critical discussion, group work and applied assignments. 

 

Estimated TA support: 70 hours   

 

Estimated course enrolment: 60 

 

Class schedule: L: M 9-12, T: M 1-2, 2-3 

 

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2027- April 30, 2027  

 

Appointment percentage: 0.5 FCE

Minimum Qualifications: PhD preferred in a relevant area, or combination of relevant expertise and experience. Teaching experience in college or university setting is an asset.

 
Description of duties: All duties associated with the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course, if applicable. This course will be taught in person.
