Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services, and we are looking for a Legal Bambara Translator to join our network of native-speaker reviewers who translate official and legal documents with the accuracy and regional expertise our clients depend on. This role focuses on translating documents from Bambara into English (and potentially vice versa) for use in immigration filings, court proceedings, and other official submissions where precision and certification standards matter.

What you'll do

  • Translate civil, legal, and immigration-related documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, affidavits, and similar) from Bambara into English
  • Review and edit machine-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithfulness to the source document
  • Apply correct transliteration conventions for proper nouns, names, and places consistent with client filing requirements
  • Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, meeting the federal standard cited by USCIS (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3))
  • Preserve original document layout and formatting in the translated output
  • Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited and rush deliveries when assigned

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Bambara and strong professional fluency in English
  • Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or official documents
  • Familiarity with document conventions and civil registry formats from Bambara-speaking regions
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
  • Ability to work within firm deadlines, including short-turnaround assignments
  • Comfort signing formal certification statements and standing behind translation accuracy

Nice to have

  • Prior experience translating for immigration, court, or asylum-related filings
  • Familiarity with USCIS translation certification requirements
  • Experience working with translation review or editing workflows rather than translating from scratch
