Verdacert is a USCIS-certified translation company serving immigrants, attorneys, and institutions with fast, native-speaker-reviewed document translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical records. We're building out language coverage and are looking for a Legal Burmese Translator to review and certify translations of civil, legal, and immigration documents from Burmese into English.
What you'll do
- Translate and review legal and civil documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, academic transcripts, and immigration-related paperwork) from Burmese into English
- Edit machine-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and terms
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, consistent with USCIS requirements under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the translated output
- Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or inconsistencies to the project lead rather than guessing
- Meet defined turnaround windows (standard, express, and rush) without compromising accuracy
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Burmese and English, with strong legal and administrative vocabulary in both
- Demonstrated experience translating official, legal, or immigration-related documents
- Familiarity with Burmese civil registry documents, court records, or academic credentials
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work independently against firm deadlines
- Comfort signing a formal certification statement attesting to translation accuracy
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS-related translation certification requirements
- Experience translating for asylum, humanitarian parole, or refugee resettlement cases
- Familiarity with regional Burmese dialects or minority language variants common in immigration filings
