Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides certified translations for immigration, legal, medical, and academic use, with a primary focus on MENA-region languages and Greek as one of its supported languages. We're looking for a Legal Greek Translator to join our reviewer network, translating and certifying Greek-language civil, court, and immigration documents into English for USCIS filings, US courts, and other official use.

What you'll do

  • Translate Greek-language legal and civil documents (court records, birth/marriage certificates, academic transcripts, affidavits, and related filings) into accurate, certified English
  • Review and edit AI-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and fidelity to the source document
  • Sign the certification statement attesting that each translation is a true and complete rendering of the original, per 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
  • Preserve document layout and apply consistent, filing-appropriate transliteration of names, dates, and official terms
  • Meet posted turnaround commitments (standard, express, and rush delivery windows)
  • Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or documents outside your competence rather than guessing

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Greek and English, with strong legal/civil terminology in both
  • Demonstrated experience translating legal, court, or immigration-related documents
  • Familiarity with certified translation standards for USCIS or equivalent official/legal use
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
  • Ability to work independently against defined turnaround deadlines
  • Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-generated draft translations

Nice to have

  • Experience with Greek civil registry documents (ληξιαρχική πράξη, court judgments, notarial acts)
  • Prior work as a certified or sworn translator
  • Familiarity with transliteration conventions for immigration filings (e.g., I-130 name spelling)
