Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with native-speaker review on every document. We're looking for a Legal Hmong Translator to join our reviewer network, producing accurate, certified translations of legal and civil documents between Hmong and English for use in immigration, court, and other official filings.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and immigration-related documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court filings, affidavits, transcripts, and similar) between Hmong and English
- Review machine-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names, dates, and numbers
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, consistent with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requirements
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
- Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or inconsistencies for clarification before certifying
- Meet turnaround commitments ranging from standard to rush delivery windows
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Hmong (White Hmong and/or Green Hmong dialects) and English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, immigration, or civil documents
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with proper nouns, dates, and numerical data
- Familiarity with USCIS or court document translation and certification requirements
- Ability to work within defined deadlines, including rush turnaround windows
- Comfortable working with document images and PDFs (scanned certificates, transcripts, official records)
Nice to have
- Prior experience as a certified or court-approved translator
- Familiarity with Hmong civil registry conventions and regional document formats
- Experience translating for immigration attorneys or legal aid organizations
