Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration, legal, academic, and medical documents, with a strong focus on languages spoken across the MENA region and beyond. We're looking for a Legal Hungarian Translator to join our network of native-speaker reviewers, translating and certifying Hungarian-language documents to meet USCIS and other official filing standards.
What you'll do
- Translate Hungarian civil, legal, and academic documents (birth/marriage certificates, court records, transcripts, affidavits, and similar) into English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and proper nouns
- Sign certification statements affirming translations are true, complete, and accurate, consistent with 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(3)
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified output
- Meet defined turnaround windows (standard, express, and rush) without sacrificing accuracy
- Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or inconsistencies for clarification before certification
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Hungarian and strong command of English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration-related documents
- Familiarity with certified translation standards and certification statement requirements
- Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within tight, defined deadlines across a queue of documents
- Comfortable reviewing machine-translated drafts and editing for precision rather than translating fully from scratch
Nice to have
- Experience with Hungarian civil registry or court document conventions
- Prior work on USCIS, immigration court, or asylum-related filings
- Familiarity with transliteration standards for names on immigration forms (e.g., I-130 spelling conventions)
