Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with a focus on native-speaker review and fast turnaround. We are looking for a Legal Malayalam Translator to join our network of reviewers, translating official documents such as birth certificates, marriage records, court filings, academic transcripts, and immigration paperwork from Malayalam into English (and vice versa where needed), ensuring accuracy that meets the standards required by USCIS and other official bodies.
What you'll do
- Translate legal and civil documents (birth/marriage/death certificates, court records, affidavits, transcripts, and immigration forms) between Malayalam and English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and dates
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the final translated output
- Flag inconsistencies, illegible content, or ambiguous terms in source documents to the project team
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited same-day or rush requests when assigned
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Malayalam and strong professional fluency in English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or official documents
- Familiarity with certified translation standards and certification statement requirements (e.g., 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) or equivalent)
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines, including rush turnarounds
- Comfortable reviewing documents originating from Indian civil registries and courts
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS, court, or university document translation
- Familiarity with transliteration conventions for Indian names on US immigration forms
- Experience working with translation review or quality-assurance workflows
