Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services, with particular depth in Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Urdu, and Turkish, alongside 34+ other supported languages. We're looking for a Legal Mam Translator to join our reviewer network, providing accurate, native-fluency translation and certification support for Mam-language legal and civil documents used in immigration filings, court proceedings, and other official submissions.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and personal documents (such as birth certificates, marriage records, court records, and academic transcripts) between Mam and English
- Review and edit machine-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and terms
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, consistent with USCIS requirements under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
- Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or inconsistencies to the project lead rather than guessing
- Meet delivery windows for standard, express, and rush turnaround tiers
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Mam and professional fluency in English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration-related documents
- Familiarity with the document conventions and civil registry formats of the region(s) where Mam is spoken
- Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within firm turnaround deadlines, including rush requests
- Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-translated drafts rather than translating fully from scratch
Nice to have
- Prior experience providing certified translations accepted by USCIS, courts, or academic institutions
- Experience with asylum, humanitarian parole, or other immigration case documentation
- Familiarity with transliteration standards for names appearing on immigration petitions
