Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration, court, education, and medical filings, with every document reviewed by a native-speaker linguist before release. We're looking for a Legal Marshallese Translator to join our reviewer network and produce certified English translations of civil, immigration, and legal documents originating from Marshallese speakers.

What you'll do

  • Translate civil status documents (birth, marriage, and death certificates), immigration filings, court records, and related legal documents from Marshallese into English
  • Review machine-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and places
  • Sign a certification statement attesting that each translation is a true, complete, and accurate rendering of the source document, consistent with 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(3)
  • Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified deliverable
  • Flag ambiguous handwriting, damaged originals, or inconsistencies that could affect accuracy or acceptance
  • Meet delivery windows ranging from standard turnaround to same-day rush requests

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Marshallese and English, with strong command of formal and legal register in both languages
  • Demonstrated experience translating legal, immigration, civil registry, or court documents
  • Familiarity with Marshallese civil document conventions and naming practices
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numbers
  • Ability to work within defined turnaround windows, including expedited requests
  • Comfortable signing a formal certification statement and standing behind the accuracy of your work

Nice to have

  • Prior experience translating for USCIS, immigration attorneys, or court proceedings
  • Certification or credentialing as a translator or interpreter
  • Experience with humanitarian parole, asylum, or family-based immigration case documents
