Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services, with native-speaker reviewers producing signed certification statements for immigration, legal, academic, and medical documents across Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Urdu, Turkish, and dozens of other languages. We are looking for a Legal Rohingya Translator to join our reviewer network and support the accurate, legally compliant translation of documents for individuals and families navigating immigration, asylum, and humanitarian filings.

In this role, you will translate and certify documents originating in Rohingya, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the certification standards required by USCIS and other institutional recipients such as courts, universities, and medical providers.

What you'll do

  • Translate civil status documents, identity records, asylum and humanitarian filings, court records, and related materials from Rohingya into English
  • Review machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, tone, and fidelity to the source document
  • Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and places consistent with the client's other filings (e.g., matching I-130 spelling)
  • Sign certification statements attesting to translation accuracy and completeness, in the format required under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
  • Flag ambiguous, damaged, or incomplete source documents and communicate issues to the reviewing team
  • Meet turnaround commitments ranging from standard to rush and same-day delivery windows

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Rohingya and English, with strong written translation skills in both directions
  • Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration-related documents
  • Familiarity with the document conventions and civil registry formats used in Rohingya-speaking communities and regions
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly with names, dates, and numerical data
  • Ability to work within defined turnaround windows, including expedited requests
  • Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-translated drafts rather than translating fully from scratch

Nice to have

  • Prior experience with USCIS filings, asylum cases, or humanitarian parole documentation
  • Experience with additional regional languages or dialects
  • Familiarity with certified translation or notarization requirements in a legal context
