Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides certified translations of civil and legal documents for immigration, court, university, and medical use, with a primary focus on MENA-region languages and a growing roster of additional languages including Russian. We're looking for a Legal Russian Translator to join our reviewer network, translating and certifying Russian-language legal and civil documents into English for use in USCIS filings, US courts, and other official proceedings.

What you'll do

  • Translate legal, civil, and court documents from Russian into English, including birth and marriage records, court judgments, powers of attorney, and related filings
  • Review and edit machine-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and legal terminology
  • Sign certification statements attesting that translations are true, complete, and accurate, meeting USCIS requirements under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
  • Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and numbers, consistent with client filing needs
  • Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
  • Meet delivery deadlines ranging from same-day rush to standard 48-hour turnaround

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Russian and English, with professional-level legal translation experience
  • Demonstrated experience translating legal or civil documents (court records, contracts, vital records, or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of Russian legal and civil document conventions and terminology
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
  • Ability to work independently against firm turnaround deadlines
  • Comfort reviewing AI-generated draft translations and editing them to certification-ready quality

Nice to have

  • Prior experience providing certified translations for USCIS, US courts, or academic institutions
  • Familiarity with regional Russian dialects or documents from multiple former-Soviet jurisdictions
  • Background as a credentialed or court-certified translator/interpreter
