Job descriptionContract

Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration, legal, university, and medical documents, with deep specialization in MENA-region languages and native-speaker review on every project. As part of expanding language coverage, we're looking for a Legal Tagalog (Filipino) Translator to review, refine, and certify translations of civil and legal documents between Tagalog/Filipino and English, ensuring accuracy that meets USCIS and court filing standards.

What you'll do

  • Review and edit machine-generated first-draft translations of civil and legal documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, academic transcripts, police clearances, and similar) between Tagalog/Filipino and English
  • Verify names, dates, numbers, and other critical details are transcribed exactly as they appear in the source document
  • Apply standard transliteration conventions to proper nouns where needed
  • Sign the certification statement attesting to translation accuracy and completeness for each completed document
  • Flag documents with ambiguous phrasing, regional dialect variation, or unclear source content for additional review
  • Meet turnaround commitments ranging from same-day rush requests to standard 48-hour delivery

What we're looking for

  • Native or near-native fluency in Tagalog/Filipino and professional fluency in English
  • Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration-related documents
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with names, dates, and official terminology
  • Familiarity with the format and conventions of Philippine civil registry documents, court records, or academic credentials
  • Ability to work independently against deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable reviewing and correcting AI-generated translation drafts rather than translating entirely from scratch

Nice to have

  • Prior experience as a certified or court-approved translator
  • Familiarity with USCIS translation certification requirements (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3))
  • Experience translating for immigration attorneys, adoption agencies, or university admissions offices
