Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with a particular focus on MENA-region languages and document conventions. We're looking for a Legal Turkish Translator to join our reviewer network, translating and certifying Turkish-language documents such as nüfus cüzdanı (national ID) records, marriage records, and apostilled court documents into English for use in official filings.
What you'll do
- Translate Turkish civil, legal, and court documents into English with full fidelity to the source, including names, dates, and numbers
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and correct terminology
- Apply standard transliteration conventions to proper nouns and ensure names match applicant spellings (e.g., as used on immigration petitions)
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the final delivered translation
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited same-day or rush requests when assigned
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Turkish and English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil registry, or court documents
- Strong working knowledge of Turkish civil document conventions (nüfus cüzdanı, marriage and birth records, court judgments)
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within tight, defined deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
- Comfort signing formal certification statements and standing behind the accuracy of your work
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS or other immigration-related document translation
- Familiarity with certified translation standards required by US courts or federal agencies
- Experience with apostille or notarization processes for Turkish documents
