Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with a focus on native-speaker review and fast turnaround. We are looking for a Legal Wolof Translator to join our network of reviewers and produce accurate, certified translations of legal and civil documents for individuals and institutions who rely on precise, defensible language work.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and personal documents (such as birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, and affidavits) between Wolof and English
- Review and certify translations for accuracy, completeness, and fidelity to the source document
- Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, places, and official terms
- Sign certification statements attesting to translation accuracy in line with regulatory requirements
- Meet defined turnaround windows and communicate proactively on document status
- Flag ambiguous, damaged, or unclear source documents before translation begins
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Wolof and English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or official documents
- Strong understanding of legal and administrative terminology in both languages
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within tight, defined deadlines
- Comfort signing formal certification statements attesting to translation accuracy
Nice to have
- Familiarity with West African civil registry and legal document conventions
- Prior experience with USCIS, court, or immigration-related translation work
- Experience working with translation review platforms or remote document workflows
