Position Summary

The Medical Informaticist I applies biomedical, clinical, and informatics knowledge to support the design and development of queries and data solutions that extract, manage, and analyze information from the internal data sources, Epic, and other clinical information systems. This role partners with investigators, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams on a mix of research, clinical operations, and quality improvement initiatives, providing support for data collection, feasibility review, problem solving, and implementation of health care IT and data management platforms. The position may also contribute to small and medium projects, as well as longer-term work aligned with research and operational goals.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements or evaluates health information technology applications, tools, processes or structures to assist clinical and research faculty and staff with data collection/extraction.
  • Performs a range of straightforward assignments related to data extractions and analytics.
  • Assumes responsibility for small and medium projects.
  • Prepares estimates and feasibility analysis of data requests for requestors.
  • Analyzes and interprets information systems data to improve research and clinical services.
  • Identifies, collects, records or analyzes data relevant to clinical and research needs.
  • Designs, develops, selects, tests, implements and evaluates new or modified informatics solutions, data structures and decision-support mechanisms to support patients, health care professionals and their information management and human-computer and human-technology interactions within health care contexts.
  • Tracks work and reports time spent on projects. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
