Job description
Support the health, safety, and success of Cornell Cooperative Extension operations at Volker House by providing custodial services, general maintenance, facility support, and assistance with seasonal and special projects. Coordinate with designated Energy Team staff to maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and functional facility.

    

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of custodial, facilities, maintenance, property management, groundskeeping, or related
  • experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, kneel, and perform physical work throughout the day.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in facility maintenance, custodial services, or property care.
  • Experience with light carpentry, painting, plumbing, or general repairs.
  • Experience supporting nonprofit, educational, agricultural, or public facilities.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices.
  • Experience assisting with events or public-facing facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Direction (Planning, Strategy, Policy, Goal Setting) – 5%

  • May assist with planning for delegated and assigned facilities and administrative functions of the Association.
  • May assist with planning for delegated and assigned administrative functions' expenses.

Management – 10%

  • May assist with guiding the delegated and assigned facilities and administrative functions of the Association.
  • May assist with guiding the delegated and assigned administrative functions' expenses.

Coordination/Operation – 80%

  • Perform routine daily and weekly cleaning of offices, common areas, meeting spaces, kitchens, bathrooms, and public areas at Volker House; empty trash and recycling; restock supplies.
  • Conduct weekly deep-cleaning projects including appliances, windows, floors, storage areas, and high-touch surfaces; complete seasonal cleaning assignments.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance; monitor building conditions and identify repair needs; coordinate with staff and vendors as needed; assist with preventative maintenance activities.

Professional Improvement – 5%

  • In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
  • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions

  • Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary:            $18 per hour

Schedule:      NONEXEMPT – Reg: 20 Hours per Week

No relocation or VISA Sponsorship available
