Job description

LemFi (Series B) is building the go-to financial app for the Global South.

Moving to a new country shouldn’t mean starting from zero. That's why our team of 400+ spanning 20+ countries is building a financial ecosystem that helps immigrants stay connected to home, build stability, and create wealth regardless of where they are from or where they live.

What began as fast, affordable remittances is now evolving into a complete platform for multi-currency accounts, payments, credit, and long-term financial growth.

With millions of users across the globe, we process over $1B in monthly transactions to 30+ countries, proving that borders shouldn't limit financial opportunity.

About the role

As UK Entity Controller, reporting to the Head of Financial Control and Reporting, you will own the numbers for our largest and most regulated group of entities: an FCA-authorised e-money institution, a payment institution and our growing consumer credit business. You will lead a small team, run a close the business can rely on every month, and build credit accounting that scales as lending grows.

This is a role for a senior controller who genuinely likes ownership. LemFi moves fast, our product surface is expanding and the regulatory bar is high. You will help shape a finance function that is lean, well-controlled and built to last - and you will leave clear fingerprints on how we do things.

What you'll build and own

  • Own the UK close - deliver an accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end close for every UK entity on the Group timetable, with every material balance substantiated and independently reviewed.

  • Prepare and file FRS 102 statutory accounts on time, act as the auditors' first point of contact for the UK, and track every audit finding and management letter point through to resolution with clear owners and dates.

  • Build and own credit accounting for our consumer credit business: loan book, IFRS 9 expected credit loss, interest and fee income, write-offs and funding facilities - documented, auditable and scalable.

  • Get safeguarding right - sign off the safeguarding requirement calculation for each UK regulated entity and ensure safeguarded funds and customer balances are correctly reflected, reconciled and agreed with Data, Treasury and Reconciliation at month-end.

  • Account accurately for high volumes of multi-currency transactions including FX revaluation and processor and bank balances, and partner with Group Reporting to agree intercompany positions.

  • Partner with FP&A on entity-level forecasts, evaluate capital adequacy and flag rectification needs ahead of regulatory reporting deadlines; give Tax and Regulatory Finance teams reliable data for FCA returns.

  • Raise the control bar - document processes and internal controls, close gaps, embed maker/checker review and segregation of duties, give every critical task a trained backup, and work with Finance Systems and Data to automate close tasks and build reporting that scales.

Your experience

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with 10 or more years of post-qualification experience, including a meaningful stint as an entity or financial controller.

  • Hands-on experience in lending or consumer credit accounting, including IFRS 9 ECL modelling and loan book accounting.

  • Experience working inside an FCA-regulated firm such as an EMI, payment institution, bank or lender.

  • Strong FRS 102 and IFRS technical knowledge with a track record of clean statutory audits and the ability to assess and document the accounting treatment of new products.

  • Comfort with high transaction volumes, multiple currencies and payment processor data; experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP.

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a small accounting team, with a hands-on, low-ego approach - happy to review and to roll up your sleeves.

Nice to have

  • Big 4 or similar audit background.

  • Fintech, cross-border payments or remittance experience, ideally with working knowledge of safeguarding under the Electronic Money and Payment Services Regulations.

  • Experience in a multi-entity group with a US parent and US GAAP consolidation requirements.
