Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology (Professor Anthony Ricciardi)

Position Summary:

  • Assists with laboratory experiments examining feeding behaviour and thermal tolerance in crayfish and fish.
  • Monitors and feeds laboratory animals, and regularly checks and adjusts water quality parameters.
  • Cleans and maintains aquaria and related laboratory equipment as required.
  • Sorts and identifies freshwater invertebrates from biological samples to the family, order, or species level, as appropriate.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Applied knowledge of each of the following: 1) caring for aquatic animals, especially fish and crayfish; 2) microscopy; 3) freshwater invertebrate identification.

  • Organized and communicative.

  • Good work ethic.

Experience and education:

  • Strong (U2 or U3) background in ecology and interest in aquatic ecology.

  • Experience having worked in a freshwater ecology lab.

Location:  This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.  The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (3) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.

High School Diploma 1 Year Related Experience

Hourly Salary:

(AMUSE B) $16.85
