POSITION SUMMARY

The MScPH Program Office within the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Research Assistant to support a project examining the newly released Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada. The successful candidate will conduct a systematic analysis of the competencies and assist with mapping the MScPH program research and training components against the new framework.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a graduate student to develop skills in competency mapping, qualitative analysis, and educational program evaluation while working closely with the MScPH Program Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in a research project examining the alignment of the MScPH curriculum with the new Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada.

  • Participate in the preparation of research documentation, including the development of a competency-matching rubric.

  • Assist with the compilation and organization of research data by creating and populating a spreadsheet-based mapping matrix.

  • Assist with the analysis and interpretation of competency framework and curriculum data to identify areas of alignment and gaps.

  • Participate in regular meetings with the MScPH Program Director and contribute to project updates and discussions.

  • Perform various administrative and project-related tasks in support of the research initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current McGill graduate student.

  • Experience with research projects, program evaluation, curriculum review, or competency-based education.

  • Experience organizing and analyzing qualitative information.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other productivity software.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Completion of the first year of MScPH coursework is an asset.
