134Position Summary:
Grading short written answers in quizzes and exams according to an outlined format for the answers. Entering these grades into a spreadsheet. Assist with the uploading of course content/managing student questions/comments on MyCourses. Instruct and guide 10-16 undergraduate students in a practical course on research techniques and theory in Immunology and grade them in various assessments such as participation, reports and presentations. Teaching assistants (TAs) are expected to read the week’s material and be prepared before the Wednesday afternoon lab sessions. They will attend TA meetings with the instructor on Friday afternoons, after the follow-up lab sessions. TAs will be present with their students in the Duff C-floor labs on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. TAs are responsible for instructing the students on safe laboratory procedures. In addition, TAs will respond to student questions through email and/or office hours. In the event of extraordinary circumstances beyond the University’s control, the content, schedule and/or evaluation scheme in this course is subject to change. In this case, TA duties would be adjusted accordingly.
Qualifications Required:
Preferably knowledge of Immunology & Microbiology and key research methods, and ideally having taken MIMM 211 and MIMM 214, MIMM 314 or MIMM 385. A solid understanding of immunology is a must.
Language Requirements (if relevant): Effective communication skills in English are essential. An effective communication skill in French is desirable.
