Job description

Consequential Work. Dedicated People.

About Onebrief

Onebrief builds collaboration and AI-powered workflow software for military planning and operational coordination.

Military planning is complex by nature, requiring teams to coordinate information, people, and decisions across systems and locations. Onebrief brings planning, collaboration, simulation, and AI into one connected environment, helping teams test strategies, adapt to changing conditions, and make decisions with greater clarity when the stakes are real.

We are a distributed team of builders from military, operational, and technology backgrounds who care deeply about improving how important work gets done. Some team members work remotely, while others work directly alongside customers in operational environments around the world.

Founded in 2019, Onebrief is backed by leading investors including General Catalyst, Battery Ventures, Insight Partners, Sapphire Ventures, and Human Capital. Valued at more than $2 billion, we continue to invest in product innovation, AI capabilities, and team growth.

About the Role

We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to support Onebrief deployments across on-premises hardware, virtualized systems, and cloud environments.

This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on Linux administration, hardware maintenance, and application reliability. You will manage Linux servers, NVIDIA DGX Spark or similar AI computing systems, rack-mounted equipment, and the applications running on them. You will also support workloads deployed on virtual machines, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.

Your primary responsibility is keeping these environments operational and maintaining a 99.5% application availability target. You will troubleshoot production issues, perform routine maintenance, and work with engineering teams to improve system reliability.

You will work primarily on-site with military customers in Wiesbaden, Germany, alongside Onebrief Outcome Engineers, Mission Success, GRC, and Infrastructure teams. Some environments have limited connectivity or operate on air-gapped networks, requiring practical troubleshooting skills and careful planning for maintenance and deployments.

Security Clearance, Location, and Onsite Requirements

This role requires regular on-site work at customer locations in and around Wiesbaden, Germany. Relocation assistance is available.

An active Top Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility. Active Security+ (or another DoD 8570.01-approved credential) is required, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

About You

You have a strong background in Linux systems administration and experience supporting production applications. You are comfortable working directly with server hardware, troubleshooting operating system issues, and diagnosing application failures. You understand how infrastructure problems affect the software running on it and know how to narrow down the cause of an outage.

You take responsibility for the systems you maintain and communicate clearly when problems arise. You can work independently at a customer site while collaborating with remote engineering teams. You value good documentation, practical automation, and fixing recurring problems.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain Linux systems and hardware: Install, configure, patch, and troubleshoot Linux servers, NVIDIA DGX Spark or similar GPU systems, rack-mounted equipment, and virtual machines. Handle hardware diagnostics, firmware updates, and routine maintenance.

  • Operate production applications: Deploy, monitor, upgrade, and troubleshoot applications running on Linux, virtual machines, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure. Work with software engineers to resolve application issues and improve deployment processes.

  • Maintain application availability: Work toward a 99.5% uptime target across assigned environments. Monitor application and system health, respond to alerts, investigate performance issues, and address problems before they cause extended outages.

  • Respond to incidents: Diagnose hardware, operating system, network, and application failures. Restore service, coordinate escalations, and document root causes and corrective actions through After Action Reviews (AARs).

  • Improve operations through automation: Use scripting and configuration management tools to simplify deployments, patching, monitoring, and recovery. Support secure operations in cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped environments.

What We Look For

  • Active Top Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility.

  • 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration, SRE, infrastructure engineering, or a related role.

  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, including networking, storage, system performance, and security configuration.

  • Hands-on experience maintaining physical servers and troubleshooting hardware failures.

  • Experience supporting production applications on Linux servers, virtual machines, or containers.

  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, including application deployments and basic troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls.

  • Experience with monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.

  • Ability to automate routine administration tasks using Bash or Python.

Nice to have qualifications

  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud platform, preferably AWS or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

  • Experience with NVIDIA DGX Spark, GPU servers, or similar AI computing hardware.

  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Proxmox, or Nutanix.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or similar monitoring tools.

  • Experience supporting systems in DoD, classified, or air-gapped environments.

  • Familiarity with DoD security requirements, including STIGs and RMF.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, or Kubernetes administration.

  • Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, CKA, or AWS certifications.
