Job descriptionReq 5225625007

Pelago is the leading specialty substance use care provider, built on the belief that effective treatment means matching care intensity to what each member actually needs rather than defaulting to the most expensive intervention. Our programs guide members through every stage of the substance use spectrum, from unhealthy habits to active use disorders, delivering personalized treatment for tobacco, alcohol, opioid, cannabis, and stimulant use based on individual health, habits, genetics, and goals.

With Sona, our voice-first AI Mental Health Specialist, Pelago now applies that same clinically-driven model to mental health, pairing deep clinical expertise with technology to expand access without compromising care quality. We believe technology should make clinical care more precise and more human, not replace the judgment behind it.

Pelago has scaled to helping hundreds of employers and health plans and has already helped more than 750,000 members better manage their substance use. If you're passionate about AI and making an impact on the health of others, join us and make it happen!

About the job

We're seeking a Lifecycle Manager to join the Growth Marketing team, the team that looks after member renewal and engagement at Pelago.

In this role you’ll run the day-to-day cadence that drives retention at renewal, build the reporting that lets internal partners spot risk early, and support the broader lifecycle motion. You'll take direct ownership of a metric that already works, with real latitude to shape how you run it, and a clear growth path into a broader lifecycle and engagement strategy as the team's scope, and Pelago's business, evolves.

You will work closely with Product and Client Marketing to understand how our billing cycle connects to the member experience today, and you'll be well-positioned to help shape how lifecycle messaging adapts if that model changes.

In this role you will…

  • Run the renewal messaging cadence — timing, sequencing, and content — that drives renewal rate and revenue today, taking direct ownership of a metric that's already performing well.
  • Support the broader consumer lifecycle — activation, engagement, retention.
  • Build clear, proactive reporting on lifecycle and renewal health so internal partners can act on risk signals early, before they become retention problems.
  • Set a measurement standard for lifecycle performance, defining what to track and ensuring the data behind it is trustworthy.
  • Partner on early-stage member engagement initiatives — campaign design, activation sequencing.
  • Work closely with Product and Client Marketing to understand our billing cycle, how it's communicated to clients, and how lifecycle communications show up across the member experience.
  • Learn the broader lifecycle motion — segmentation, cadence design, activation logic — directly from Growth's lifecycle strategy lead, building toward broader lifecycle and engagement ownership.

We’re looking for

  • 6+ years of experience in lifecycle, retention, or CRM marketing — healthcare, subscription, or other renewal-dependent business models preferred.
  • Experience working in B2C or B2C2B environments.
  • A track record of revenue-driving metric ownership.
  • Experience designing segmented, cadence-based communication programs.
  • Strong data instincts, with the ability to build reporting that cross-functional partners actually use and act on.
  • Experience with Iterable, Braze, or other consumer engagement platforms.

The provided range reflects our US target salary range for this full-time position, which is part of our broader total compensation package, including incentive bonus program, stock options, comprehensive benefits, and incentive pay applicable to eligible roles. Individual pay within the range will vary based on a variety of factors like role-related experience and education, internal pay equity, and other relevant business factors. At Pelago, we are committed to an equitable and fair pay philosophy and review total compensation for our employees at least twice a year.

What applying to Pelago usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through greenhouse can typically expect an online application involving a resume and possibly a cover letter or screening questions. Pelago's process, like many companies using this ATS, may include multiple stages such as an initial recruiter screen, followed by hiring manager conversations, and potentially skills-based or role-specific assessments depending on the position, such as analytics, clinical, or engineering roles. Panel interviews or case studies may also be part of later stages for certain roles. Communication is often handled through automated updates within the platform, though response times vary and candidates should not assume a fixed timeline. It is generally advisable to prepare role-relevant examples, review the job description closely, and follow up politely if no update is received after a reasonable period.
