Job description

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Office of the Bursar is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Accountant position on the Fee Assessor Team. The primary duties of the position include reviewing and adjudicating complex residency cases, assisting with assessment of tuition and fees for University Park and all Commonwealth Campuses as well as collaborating with academic departments across the University in managing Graduate Assistantship awards. In addition, this position works with HR to ensure the accurate assessment of employee tuition discounts. Duties also include analyzing student records and accounts to provide timely and accurate tuition and fee adjustments, counseling/advising staff on tuition adjustments and other policy/procedure related inquiries, monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly reports to audit tuition and fee assessment, and managing Fee Assessor communications including but not limited to responding to emails and drafting correspondence to students, families, and University stakeholders.  

The successful candidate for this position must possess the following attributes:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills to plan, organize, and direct work objectives, priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail
  • The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism while meeting specific deadlines, demonstrating the ability to work independently, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills to address complex situations and concerns with various offices, outside agencies, parents, and students
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Microsoft Excel, and experience with student and business systems/software

Accounting and reconciliation experience is desired. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work (up to 2 to 3 days per week remote). Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree
1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $54,060.00 - $78,444.00.
