Job descriptionReq 8249787

Squarespace is looking for a Director, Corporate Communications to own and lead the company’s internal and external communications functions.

This leader will set the communications strategy and operating priorities, advise executive leadership, shape the company narrative, and build scalable programs that strengthen employee understanding, company reputation, and business outcomes. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and requires strong judgment, excellent writing, and the ability to influence across the organization.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the General Counsel.

You’ll Get To…

  • Own the company's communications strategy
  • Develop and maintain a consistent narrative that works across both consumer and B2B audiences
  • Serve as the primary communications advisor to the executive team and help prepare leadership for media, speaking, and investor-facing engagements
  • Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and producers across tech, business, and vertical press
  • Drive proactive story placement and manage inbound opportunities
  • Draft press materials including releases, media pitches, briefings, and contributed articles
  • Develop strategy and execute Communications initiatives in select jurisdictions outside the United States
  • Manage reactive and crisis communications
  • Partner closely with Product and Marketing to develop launch plans for new features, products, brand campaigns, and company milestones
  • Translate technical and product information into clear, newsworthy narratives for diverse audiences
  • Support leadership communications, including internal announcements and external thought leadership
  • Plan and execute quarterly company All Hands meetings
  • Develop an internal communications cadence that keeps employees informed and engaged
  • Manage company intranet content and presentation
  • Manage agency relationships and external vendors as needed
  • Track and report on communications KPIs and coverage metrics

Who We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of communications experience, with meaningful time in-house at a technology company (agency experience a plus)
  • Proven ability to own a communications function independently, ideally at a high-growth company
  • Experience communicating across both consumer and B2B audiences
  • Strong media relationships in tech, business and consumer press, with a track record of earned coverage
  • Excellent writer and editor with the ability to make complex technical and business topics clear, compelling, and accessible
  • Comfortable operating at the strategic level while still being willing to draft a pitch, prep a spokesperson, or update a press kit yourself
  • Experience supporting executive communications and thought leadership programs
  • Strong judgment and calm decision-making under pressure, including the ability to make recommendations with incomplete information.
  • Team player who collaborates naturally across functions without needing a formal mandate

Benefits & Perks

  • A choice between medical plans with an option for 100% covered premiums including medical, dental, and vision
  • Supplemental Life and Disability Insurance plans
  • Fertility and adoption benefits
  • Headspace mindfulness app subscription
  • Global Employee Assistance Program
  • Retirement benefits with employer match
  • Flexible paid time off
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave and family care leave
  • Pretax commuter benefit
  • Education reimbursement
  • Employee donation match to community organizations
  • 7 Global Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
  • Dog-friendly workplace
  • Free lunch and snacks
  • Private rooftop
  • Hack week twice per year

Cash Compensation Range: $203,500 - $327,750 USD

What applying to Squarespace usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through greenhouse for roles at Squarespace can generally expect an online application followed by an initial recruiter screen, if selected. The process may include multiple stages such as a hiring manager conversation, one or more technical or role-specific assessments, and panel-style interviews with prospective teammates or cross-functional stakeholders. For technical roles like engineering positions, candidates might encounter coding exercises or system design discussions, while non-technical roles may involve case studies or presentations relevant to the position. Communication is typically managed through the Greenhouse platform, including scheduling and status updates, though response times vary and are not guaranteed at any particular stage. Candidates should generally prepare to discuss their background, relevant experience, and motivations, and may be asked to provide references or complete additional steps depending on the specific role and level.
