The Department of Classical Studies at Tulane University has been approved to make a one-year, non-tenure-track appointment at the rank of visiting assistant professor (VAP). The appointment will begin July 1, 2026, and is renewable with successful performance and contingent on funding. We are seeking a broadly trained Hellenist. Applicants should apply with a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, and a representative writing sample (c. 25 pages). During the search process, applicants will be prompted by the system to provide contact information for three references.  The system will then request letters of recommendation from your references. The search committee will commence its initial screening of applications on April 17, 2026. We will interview select candidates via Zoom, but the search will remain active until the position is filled. Please direct any inquiries to the Department Chair, Prof. Ryan Boehm (rboehm@tulane.edu). For more information about the department, please visit our website.
