PRIMARY CARE FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION

The University of Miami (UM) School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) seeks qualified Nurse Practitioner faculty in primary care for full-time position at the Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical rank.

The graduate primary care programs provide comprehensive clinical and didactic training with a focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan. Students benefit from diverse clinical rotation experiences throughout South Florida, supported by established partnerships with community-based and healthcare organizations. SONHS also features a fully equipped and operational 5-story, 41,000-square-foot Simulation Hospital, a global destination for simulation-based education, research, and service, replicating real-world clinical and hospital environments.

The School houses several notably ranked and accredited academic programs, including baccalaureate degrees in nursing science, public health, and the health sciences, as well as master’s programs, post-master’s certificates, and doctoral programs, including the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science) and DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice).

Qualifications:

  • PhD, DNP, Doctoral degree in Nursing or Masters in Nursing (MSN required)
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in a primary care specialty (Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner)
  • Current and active APRN and RN license (or eligibility for licensure in Florida)
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in primary care clinical practice
  • Experience teaching or precepting in graduate nursing education preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct didactic, simulation, and clinical teaching and provide academic and clinical advising to students in graduate primary care programs
  • Participate in curriculum development, course coordination, and evaluation activities, including simulation and clinical learning experiences
  • Pursue and collaborate in scholarship and research activities and publish in peer-reviewed journals
  • Participate in community and academic service, including maintaining and expanding clinical partnerships
  • Contribute to the guidance of students’ scholarly projects and support their academic progression
  • Participate in the growth and development of primary care program goals and objectives as an active faculty member
