VPRI provides a full range of services including guidance to faculty, staff and students on funding opportunities, research agreement negotiation, oversight and accountability services including research accounting, environmental health and safety, innovation and entrepreneurship, partnerships, policies and procedures, and institutional awards and honours.

Your opportunity:

Based within the Research Services Office (RSO), you will work closely with all RSO teams to support faculty success in a broad range of regular, high volume domestic and international research funding programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on improvementsto draft funding proposals to better meet agency requirements
  • Analyzing draft funding proposals
  • Editing research funding applications
  • Writing funding proposal content
  • Developing proposal development guides and resources
  • Coordinating peer reviews of research projects with internal and/or external contacts
  • Conducting detailed analysis of funding competition outcomes
  • Producing complex statistical analyses.
  • Preparing content and delivering proposal development guidance at workshops and information sessions

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Doctorate Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years' relevant experience in a University research or research environment, including experience writing, reviewing and editing grant proposals in an academic environment
  • Experience preparing and conducting workshops/information sessions to groups of individuals
  • Experience with participation in major competitions, including coordinating peer review of large-scale projects
  • Excellent editing, proofreading and writing skills; including grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate with researchers from a variety of disciplines, communicate recommendations in a manner that is clear, objective and respectful
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex or diverse information
  • Understanding of the expectations andoperation of government research councils and other external funding agencies
  • Ability to conduct research on policy issues that impact the research funding environment
