Overview
Reporting to the Manager of the Finance Support Center (FSC) as a member of the FSC support team this position will provide administrative, financial, and customer service support. This position will be responsible for the timely distribution of accounts payable checks including preparing all appropriate backup as required for signature and respond to inquiries regarding transaction questions from departments/units and vendors. They will identify, interpret and research issues seeking resolution to ensure customer satisfaction in compliance with all applicable University and Federal guidelines (i.e. Vendor Set-Up, Check Requests). They will serve as a source of information to staff, faculty, students, and external contacts on financial policies and procedures and departmental activity. Service support also includes routing inquiries appropriately to Tier 2 according to defined business rules or contacting departments to gather and verify information. In addition to the check distribution and customer service support the FSC Financial Assistant may be required to provide assist other support staff and perform additional activities as needed to maintain the highest level of customer service.

Required Skills and Abilities

1. Demonstrated excellence in customer service skills. Ability to represent the University and YSS professionally; ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, pleasant, and grammatically correct manner. Prioritize effectively.
2. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to meet deadlines and follow schedules. Ability to recognize pre-determined triggers for escalation as well as ability to search knowledge base and provide clear directions based on defined solutions.
3. Knowledge of software such as Windows and Microsoft products: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint or equivalent; Internet navigation skills and the proven ability to quickly learn new systems (SalesForce & Workday).
4. Excellent attendance record.

5. Flexibility and openness to learn new work assignments.


Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Four years of related work experience (two in the same job family) and a high school level education; or two years related work experience and an Associate’s degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelors degree in a related field.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Analyzes and reconciles financial statements. Prepares standardized and specialized financial reports. Researches, identifies, and corrects errors through accounting transfers. 2. Serves as a source of information to staff, faculty, students and external contacts on financial policies and procedures and departmental activity. Establishes and maintains financial records and files ensuring accuracy and completeness. Monitors and may approve account expenditures. 3. May oversee and instruct support staff. May requisition supplies and equipment. May record and post data. Performs clerical functions incidental to financial activities. Required Education and Experience Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and a high school level education; or two years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
