Job description

About Artisan

We're building AI employees. Not chatbots. Not copilots. Autonomous digital workers that do real jobs.

Our first, Ava, is an AI BDR used by hundreds of companies. She researches leads, writes and sends emails in a customer's voice, runs multi-step outbound sequences, self-optimizes over time, and handles objections and meeting booking. She's not a tool someone uses. She's a teammate.

We're a YC W24 company, have raised $35M+ from investors including Y Combinator, and are at $10M+ ARR. We recently launched Ava 2.0, a step change in what an AI employee can do. And we're hiring.

Role overview

You'll be the first Business Development Representative on the Artisan team! This is a foundational GTM hire. You'll own outbound pipeline generation, working alongside Ava, our AI BDR. She handles the lists, the outreach, the records, and the scheduling. You handle everything she can't.

  • You're not joining a BDR team. You are the BDR team.

  • Cold call prospects and engage target accounts to generate qualified pipeline

  • Call every inbound lead within minutes of them raising their hand

  • Turn your conversations into booked meetings for our AE team

  • Carry a quota of meetings held, not activity metrics

  • Work with our product team to make Ava better

Location: Remote (US or UK, US business hours)
Team: GTM
Reports to: Walker, our Head of Sales
Compensation: $60,000-$80,000 on-target earnings (base + commission) for US-based candidates. UK compensation localized.

Who you are

  • 1+ years as an SDR/BDR, or exceptional evidence you belong in sales

  • Excellent communicator, quick on your feet, great at building rapport

  • Confident on the phone

  • Resilient. Rejection doesn't rattle you

  • Comfortable being the only human on the team

  • Excited to work at the frontier of AI and sales

Interview process

  1. Introductory chat with Alejandra, our recruiter

  2. 30-minute interview with Walker, our Head of Sales

  3. Mock cold call session

  4. 30-minute culture and values interview with Jaspar, our CEO

Our culture and values

  • Founder mindset. Everyone acts like an owner: take initiative, think big, challenge ideas, and push for 10× outcomes

  • Obsessed with impact. We apply the 80/20 rule, kill sunk costs quickly, and focus on what actually moves the needle

  • Customer-first, always. Every decision is made with the customer experience at the center

  • High standards, every detail. Quality matters in everything we ship, from product and code to copy and design

  • Clear, direct communication. We value candor, fast responses, and feedback

  • Winning team energy. We bring positive vibes, low ego, zero drama, and genuinely enjoy building together
