About the Cornell Experience Modernization Initiative

The Cornell Experience Modernization Initiative (CEMI) is a multi-year program designed to improve the experience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, patients, and partners by unifying and enhancing administrative systems and processes across all Cornell University locations. Its name CEMI is said as “See Me” because the focus is on you: the people who use Cornell’s systems and data to accomplish your goals.

Data and Analytics Within CEMI, the Data & Analytics focus will unify data sources to create an accessible golden record. Historically, Cornell’s data has resembled pieces of a puzzle—each campus and department holds different pieces, but university leadership needs to see the complete picture to make informed decisions. Cornell’s fragmented reporting systems make it difficult to gather and analyze data across the university, hindering our ability to gain comprehensive insights. Creating a unified approach to data management and analytics will help Cornell make better-informed decisions that serve our entire community.

Before building effective university-wide analytics, it is critical to establish a common data language and understanding across all units. This foundation will support CEMI’s broader goal of creating integrated, efficient systems that enable data-driven decision-making across Cornell.

What will you do:

The CEMI Change Manager, Data & Analytics plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery and adoption of initiatives across the Cornell Enterprise Management Initiative (CEMI), including the Data and Analytics Program and other strategic program workstreams. Reporting to and working in partnership with the Assistant Director of Change Management, this position serves as a change management partner for the Data and Analytics workstream while also providing support for broader CEMI change initiatives as needed. Approximately 75% of the role's effort will focus on Data and Analytics change-related activities, with up to 25% allocated to other CEMI change management priorities. The role ensures alignment with university-wide organizational change management strategies, standards, methodologies, and governance practices while advancing adoption, readiness, and stakeholder engagement across the CEMI portfolio.

The Change Manager collaborates closely with the CEMI Program Team, Data and Analytics leaders, project stakeholders, and vendor partners to assess organizational impacts, coordinate readiness activities, and support the successful adoption of new processes, technologies, services, and ways of working. This role focuses on the people side of change by preparing, supporting, and enabling faculty, staff, and leaders to successfully transition through change while minimizing disruption and maximizing business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply organizational change management methodologies, tools, and best practices, including Prosci's ADKAR model, to support stakeholder readiness, adoption, and engagement across Data and Analytics initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute the Data and Analytics Change Management Strategy in alignment with broader CEMI and organizational change management objectives.
  • Partner with communications, training, and project teams to deliver stakeholder engagement, communications, learning, and readiness activities that support successful adoption.
  • Create and maintain change management work plans, assessments, and deliverables identified within the overall change strategy.
  • Conduct and document stakeholder analyses, change impact assessments, readiness evaluations, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Partner with project teams to understand future-state processes, business requirements, and organizational impacts in support of change planning and execution.
  • Facilitate and participate in change champion networks, stakeholder forums, focus groups, and feedback sessions to increase awareness, measure readiness, and gather insights.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, leaders, and functional partners across campuses and organizational units.
  • Ensure stakeholders are prepared for training, testing, demonstrations, and other experiential learning opportunities that support change adoption.
  • Monitor stakeholder feedback, adoption risks, and resistance, escalating concerns and recommending mitigation strategies as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with change management colleagues and program partners to ensure consistency in approach, messaging, reporting, and change management practices across concurrent initiatives.
  • Support measurement and reporting of change management activities, stakeholder readiness, and adoption outcomes.

This is a 2 year term appointment which may be ended or extended based on organizational needs, funding availability, and performance.

While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
