We develop highly innovative customer-facing applications in healthcare analytics to generate performance, improvement opportunities, and value for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the team developing and supporting analytics systems with patent pending technology and applications to support our in-house audit partners.
  • Design and implement new solutions.
  • Learn new technologies and apply them to the problem space.
  • Peer review software changes by other developers.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team on development.
  • Document the specifications, design, features, and operation of applications prior to production rollout.

This job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change as the needs of Cotiviti and requirements of the job change.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 0-1 year of professional Java development experience.
  • Strong grasp of core Java and object-oriented programming: classes, interfaces, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and exception handling.
  • Familiarity with the Java Collections Framework, generics, streams, and lambdas.
  • Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.

  • Basic awareness of secure coding practices: input validation, parameterized queries, and no hard-coded credentials.
  • Ability to use AI coding assistants (such as Claude or GitHub Copilot) for development, debugging, and documentation.
  • Sound judgment with AI output: you review, test, and understand any code before committing it, and you can explain it in a code review.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to execute project deliverables in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within estimated timelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Spring or Spring Boot (REST controllers, dependency injection, and configuration).
  • Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and mocking with Mockito.

  • Experience writing effective prompts and using AI to generate unit tests, boilerplate, or documentation, and validating the results.
  • Understanding of AI limitations, including hallucinated APIs, outdated syntax, and insecure suggestions.
  • Exposure to agentic or CLI-based coding tools.

Mental Requirements:

  • Critical Thinking: Analyze problems objectively and make sound, data-driven decisions.
