Overview

As a Data Solution Specialist at Cotiviti, you will play a pivotal role in designing, executing, and optimizing data transformation processes that drive our strategic business objectives. Your focus will be on hands-on development and integration of healthcare data, collaborating with stakeholders to translate business requirements, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements into actionable data solutions.

You will leverage your technical expertise to ensure the seamless processing and integration of large healthcare datasets. Using advanced tools such as the Hadoop ecosystem (including Hue for running Hive and Impala queries), you will perform data mapping, transformation, and validation to prepare data for meaningful use across the organization. You will be responsible for tracking project progress, identifying and resolving issues, and supporting change and release management activities to deliver high-quality functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and optimization of data integration solutions, including working on scalable data integration frameworks and assisting with ETL process refinements for effective data flow.
  • Contribute to cross-functional, matrixed project teams, supporting day-to-day activities to achieve project goals within set timelines.
  • Collaborate with different departments, using your technical expertise to understand and help integrate data needs into Cotiviti's strategic plans.
  • Engage in process execution and improvements, suggesting enhancements and documenting updates to processes as needed.
  • Participate in all stages of project development from research and design to programming, testing, and implementation.
  • Assist in coordinating meetings, managing agendas, and tracking action items, ensuring smooth communication across Business Units.
  • Work with technical product owners, architects, and engineers to help refine business requirements and acceptance criteria, contributing to the overall success of projects.
  • Execute data mapping and transformation tasks using the Hadoop and Spark ecosystems (e.g., Hue for Hive and Impala queries, Spark for distributed data processing)
  • Analyze, validate, and prepare large healthcare datasets for organizational use.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Health Information Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in technical roles required: 2+ years preferred, with exposure to healthcare data management, ETL development, Data Integration, or similar field.
  • Proficiency with Hadoop ecosystem tools, such as Hue, for running Hive and Impala queries (Understanding of data mapping from raw datasets to a global standard format is a plus.
  • 1-2 years required, 2+ years preferred: Proficiency with Spark ecosystems and application of the following Spark languages (PySpark, Scala, Spark SQL) for data transformation, ETL, and analytic.
  • 1-2 years required, 2+ years preferred: Proficiency navigating command line interfaces, including Bash and PowerShell, as well as the use of hdfs dfs for Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) operations.
  • 1-2 years required, 2+ years preferred: Proficiency in Python for data transformation and file extraction/processing tasks. Experience in data quality and testing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook (Project management software experience, preferred).
    • Proficiency in JIRA and Agile processes.
    • Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
    • Understanding of Data Engineering best practices.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are crucial for conveying complex technical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders clearly and understandably through written reports, presentations, and verbal discussions.
  • Curiosity and Learning Agility: A strong desire to learn and explore new methodologies, techniques, and tools in the field of data analysis and insights generation is essential for staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Resilience: The ability to handle pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and overcome setbacks is important in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous analytical environment.
  • Ethical and Integrity: Upholding ethical standards and maintaining integrity in handling sensitive data and information is paramount for building trust and credibility in the insights provided

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.
  • be able to provide high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Base compensation ranges from $70,000 to $90,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
