Overview

The Senior Manager Program Management – Payment serves as a people leader responsible for overseeing program delivery while directly leading, coaching, and developing a team of project management professionals. This role balances strategic execution with day-to-day people leadership to ensure successful delivery of payment-related initiatives aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of project managers, providing regular feedback, performance guidance, and career development support. 
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability for individual and team performance.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development conversations to support engagement, growth, and retention.
  • Support talent planning activities, including hiring, onboarding, and succession planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture aligned with organizational values.

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Provide oversight and direction for complex payment-related programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities. 
  • Manage program timelines, risks, dependencies, and resource allocation across the team.
  • Ensure consistent application of program management standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Remove obstacles and escalate risks as needed to ensure successful delivery.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for senior stakeholders related to assigned programs.
  • Partner closely with Product, Technology, Operations, and other cross‑functional teams to drive program outcomes.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and achievements effectively to leadership audiences. 

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor team workload and capacity to ensure balanced resource allocation.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, execution, and delivery quality.
  • Use data and metrics to evaluate team and program performance and inform decision‑making.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in program or transformation leadership in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred; master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams, including performance management and employee development.  
  • Proven ability to coach others, provide feedback, and build high‑performing teams.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead through influence and collaboration. 
  • Strong experience leading cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage governance, budgets, risks, and executive updates.
  • Experience in healthcare, regulated industries, or operational transformation preferred.
  • Healthcare payer/provider operations.
  • Portfolio governance.
  • PMP or comparable certification required.
  • Enterprise program delivery.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area. 

  • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance. 

Base compensation ranges from $155,000 to $200,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. This role is eligible for discretionary bonus consideration.
