The Egyptian Hockey League (EHL) is Egypt's official organized ice hockey league, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Cairo, running competitive seasons, player development programmes, and community outreach as it grows the sport across the country. As part of its efforts toward IIHF recognition and its wider audience across the Arabic and English-speaking hockey community, the EHL is looking for an Arabic / English Translator to help bridge language gaps across its communications, media, and governance work.
What you'll do
- Translate league communications, news articles, and match recaps between Arabic and English
- Translate official documents, rules, and governance materials to support the league's IIHF compliance work
- Support translation needs for player, coach, and official-facing materials, including onboarding and programme content
- Provide translation support for website content, social media posts, and press releases
- Assist with live or on-demand interpretation for interviews, broadcasts, or league events as needed
- Review translated materials for accuracy, tone, and cultural appropriateness before publication
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in both Arabic and English, written and spoken
- Proven experience translating professionally between Arabic and English
- Strong attention to detail and ability to preserve tone and meaning across languages
- Comfort working with sports, news, or organizational content under deadline pressure
- Excellent written communication skills in both languages
Nice to have
- Experience translating sports-related content or familiarity with ice hockey terminology
- Experience with interpretation (consecutive or simultaneous) in addition to written translation
- Familiarity with the Egyptian sports landscape or Middle East sports media
