Job description

Experian is a global data and technology company, powering opportunities for people and businesses around the world. We operate across a range of markets, from financial services to healthcare, automotive, agribusiness, insurance, and many more. Experian invests in people and new advanced technologies to unlock the power of data. We have an amazing team of 25,200 people in 32 countries.

Experian - Credit Services, Identity & Fraud are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build and improve a mature, business-critical product. You'll work across the full stack in a collaborative, agile team, taking features from design through to delivery. This is a Hybrid, Nottingham based role (40% in the office) reporting to the Director of Engineer

What you'll be doing

  • Build new features and enhancements across an established .NET product, working full-stack from data layer to UI.
  • Write clean, secure, maintainable and well-documented code, following our coding standards and secure-development practices.
  • Handle sensitive data responsibly, with security and data protection front of mind at every stage.
  • Improve performance and reliability through refactoring, database optimisation and sensible architectural changes.
  • Take part in the full delivery cycle — sprint planning, standups, retros — and work with the Product Manager to shape and deliver features.
  • Help triage, maintain and improve core parts of the existing application as our user base grows.

Essential

  • Solid commercial experience with C#, .NET Framework and .NET Core development.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (SQL Server).
  • Full-stack experience building web pages with ASP.NET Razor.
  • A good understanding of web UI layout, including HTML and CSS.
  • A track record of writing secure code and handling sensitive data appropriately.
  • Sound grasp of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
  • Comfortable owning tasks through to completion and collaborating within an agile team.

Desirable

  • Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms and cloud-native technologies.
  • Understanding of microservices and event-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with HTMX.
  • CI/CD experience, ideally with Git (GitHub) and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Atlassian tooling (Jira, Confluence).

Benefits include

  • Hybrid-based role 40% office base
  • Great compensation package and discretionary bonus plan
  • Core benefits include pension, BUPA healthcare and more
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

What applying to Experian usually looks like

Based on publicly available information, candidates applying through SmartRecruiters typically begin with an online application and profile submission, often followed by an automated confirmation email. From there, applicants can generally expect an initial recruiter screening to review background and role fit, followed by additional evaluation stages that may include hiring manager conversations, technical or skills-based assessments, and panel discussions depending on the role, such as engineering, sales, or analyst positions at Experian. Some roles may also involve take-home exercises or case studies. Communication throughout the process is commonly handled via the SmartRecruiters platform or direct email, and response times vary based on team capacity and role seniority. Candidates should typically prepare to discuss their resume, relevant experience, and motivations, as the process may include multiple stages before a final decision is reached.
